“We have much to remember and many to honor.”
Major General Jim Butterworth, the keynote speaker at Gwinnett County’s Veterans Day ceremony, reminded the scores of people in attendance for Tuesday’s event why the annual observance is so important. Many have made sacrifices, he said, so that we can live in freedom.
“We stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us,” he said. “Some made sacrifices so we can stand here on this soil today. Some laid down their lives for us so we could live freely and live the life our founding fathers envisioned.”
